THE ADVENTURES OF DRAKE MANDIBLE # 42: SQUABBLING SCIENTISTS.
The Canidon lunged, and Drake dived out of the way, rolled, stood up and took off in the other direction. The beast was fast, but given its size and shape, not very agile with a wide turning berth.
The Norwegians, meanwhile, were bickering again
.
“We’ve got to do something!” shouted Lucius.
“We are,” yelled Daedalus, “We’re running!”
“I was hoping for something a bit more helpful. The Canidon is here because of us.”
“What do you suggest then, Dr Science?”
“Well I could do without the sarcasm for a start,” puffed Lucius as he thought. “I’ve got it, we use the scanner! If I increase the Yota Wave Frequency to maximum output, the feedback should be enough to stun the monster.”
“Only stun?”
“It’s either that or let it eat us and hope it chokes on our bones or gets severe stomach cramps.”
“Swell.”
“The scanner needs time to power up sufficiently. You’ll have to run interference.”
Daedalus sighed.
“I knew you’d say that,” she said and ran towards the Canidon, shouting and waving her arms to draw its attention away from Drake.
The beast was confused. Its rider was urging it towards the evasive male, while the smaller female was actually running TOWARDS it.
In the end, convenience won out over subservience and it went for Daedalus...
