THE ADVENTURES OF DRAKE MANDIBLE #41: CARNIVOROUS CREATURE.

Drake and the Norwegians dashed through the trees and out into the open field that served as the runway. What they saw was astonishing.

Standing in the middle of the field was a creature that looked like something out of ancient myth. Easily as big as an elephant, it had a body like a lion, a head like a Rottweiler , the horns of a bull and the tusks of a boar and its massive tail tapered to a point, like a scorpion.

The rider was equally impressive, standing at nearly seven feet tall, wearing black armour with three large spikes protruding from the helmet. The rider carried a long whip that appeared to crackle with electricity and a broadsword in a sheath on his back.

“Canidon!” exclaimed Lucius.

“We’re in a whole lot of trouble,” said Daedalus.

The Canidon was sniffing the air and turned to face them. The rider cracked the whip and the creature charged.

“Scatter!” yelled Drake. They all took off in different directions. The Canidon ignored the scientists and went for the biggest target. Drake powered down the length of the field as fast as his legs could carry him, but the Canidon was quickly gaining. He could feel its warm, rancid breath on the back of his neck and realized that this could very well be the end.

He’d die in his pyjamas…
